America's Team FC

WILL THIS TEAM LIFT THE HIGHLAND LEAGUE CUP THIS SPRING?

YANKS! THE STORY OF AMERICA'S TEAM!

FALL 2011 - SHOW SYNOPSIS

The series follows the ragtag team of Fort William climb from worst to first ‐ building alliances, finding love, heartbreak, breaking barriers, overcoming the odds ‐ and never, ever giving up.

For the past decade Fort William has been without doubt, the worst team in the Scottish Highland League. Their reputation has grown across Europe – as they have become known throughout the world of sport as perhaps the very epitome of a “hapless team.”

As the town approaches the 2011 season, the outlook has never looked more dire: the long‐suffering coach has recently quit, and the team’s former top player just passed away from lung cancer at the young age of 23.

They might even be the worst team in Europe, and on the verge of collapse ‐ but now an astonishing world’s first is taking place on the
picturesque pitch at the foot of Ben Nevis. A group of amateur American soccer players want to take on the challenge of resurrecting this team and town from the brink ‐ and attempt to be the first team in the league’s history to go from worst to first.

The “docu‐soap” fly‐on‐thewall show footage will follow the arrival and integration of these unpaid American players in minute detail as they attempt to adapt to the Scottish Highlands.

Clashes, conflicts, rivalries, relationships and absolute and absurd reality are promised as the imports are dropped into a new way of life and harsh new climate. How will the locals react to a group of fit, handsome, young American men playing “their game”, invading “their” bars, restaurants, shops and churches?

Worse – how will the Americans react to taking part in working and helping the local economy in Lochaber. The intent of this show is to BREAK BARRIERS and smash stereotypes. The mood of the show will start off tense, funny, absurd. However, as we move forward in the story arc ‐ we will follow the team and community as they learn to overcome barriers – embrace each other – and eventually learn to be a team.

As a viewer, you can watch the series AND interact with the players and the managers daily through Facebook, Twitter, and through the official team website.

You can also get inside looks at the upcoming opponents ‐ catch interviews with rival players and coaches ‐ so you can have all of the tools you need to succeed to help these “Bad News Bears” of professional soccer lift their first and only trophy.

At the end of the season ‐ only one question will remain: can this group of dynamic young, unknown Americans take Europe’s worst team all the way to a Scottish League Championship?

Here's a taste of the article above:

Thursday 27 August ~

Tuesday's announcement that Channel 4 will be axing Big Brother could mean an end to the reality TV era with which this decade has been plagued. However the news may also have repercussions for the football club described as the “worst team in senior football”. Last season Fort William FC of the Highland League took just one point from 28 matches. Based in the town situated under Ben Nevis, they suffer from shinty's local popularity – Fort William Shinty Club is one of the best in the country – and have been cemented to the bottom of their league for three years.
